“But be on your guard. Don’t let the sharp edge of your expectation get dulled by parties and drinking and shopping. Otherwise, that Day is going to take you by complete surprise, spring on you suddenly like a trap, for it’s going to come on everyone, everywhere, at once. So, whatever you do, don’t fall asleep at the wheel. Pray constantly that you will have the strength and wits to make it through everything that’s coming and end up on your feet before the Son of Man.” He spent his days in the Temple teaching, but his nights out on the mountain called Olives. All the people were up at the crack of dawn to come to the Temple and listen to him.

The critical importance of getting our minds into the game; to be on guard, sober for our life and life more abundantly is that we remain focused. Thinking through the experiences of our lives allows us the opportunity to discern what is good, not just for the short term but also for the long term, leading toward our expected end. In addition, thinking through our experiences allows us to gain insight; seeing past what is to connect the dots, serving as a road map forward. Therefore, we cannot fall asleep along the journey but instead, be watchful and praying; communicating with God all along the way to ensure we are moving and flowing in His ordered steps for our lives, after all, we have been Chosen for our journey, and God the Creator has an ultimate plan and purpose. Just as Jesus spent His day operating in His Chosen-ness and spending His evening in communication with God, His Creator so that He might walk in His Most Favored Status, we too must do so and as a result reveal God in the fullness of His presence, power, and promises fulfilled.
