So don’t throw it all away now. You were sure of yourselves then. It’s still a sure thing! But you need to stick it out, staying with God’s plan so you’ll be there for the promised completion. It won’t be long now, he’s on the way; he’ll show up most any minute. But anyone who is right with me thrives on loyal trust; if he cuts and runs, I won’t be very happy. But we’re not quitters who lose out. Oh, no! We’ll stay with it and survive, trusting all the way.
Hebrews 10:35-39 (MSG)
Some days the hardest thing isn’t believing—it’s not letting go. Hebrews 10:35–39 (The Message) speaks into that tension, urging us to keep our grip on confidence because it carries a real, promised reward. Focus here looks like holy stubbornness, the decision to stay committed even when the wait stretches longer than expected. God remains High And Lifted Up, and our calling is to live from that elevated assurance, not from the pressure of the moment. For Black people and our communities, this is a reminder that endurance is not weakness; it’s wisdom shaped by history and hope. When we refuse to shrink back, our hands stay ready to build what faith has already seen. This word crosses generations, calling all of us to live forward, stay Focused, and trust that what’s promised is still on the way.
