When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Matthew 16:13-16
Identity gets clearer when you stop repeating the crowd and start listening to heaven. Matthew 16:13–16 (KJV) shows Jesus pressing past public opinion to expose blindspots hiding in familiar answers. Knowing Your Blindspots means asking whether your confession is inherited, borrowed, or revealed. Peter sees clearly because revelation lifts his vision above rumor and assumption. From a High And Lifted Up place, truth is not loud—it is precise. For Black people carrying layered narratives about who we are and who we’re allowed to be, this moment is freeing: God names us beyond stereotypes, systems, and survival scripts. This word calls every generation to let revelation refine identity and let clear sight fuel bold faith.
