Series: KNOW YOUR BLINDSPOTS
“TO SEE THE BIG PICTURE – PT I”
Mark 8:22–25 (The Passion Translation)Year Theme: HIGH AND LIFTED UP
BIG IDEA (For Everybody)
Clear vision often comes in stages.Healing doesn’t always happen all at once—but it does happen on purpose.
Seeing the big picture requires:
Community
Honesty
Commitment to the process
POINT 1: UBUNTU MINDSET (v.22)
What’s Happening
The blind man doesn’t come alone. The community brings him.
Ubuntu = I am because we are.
Healing starts when someone believes for you before you can believe for yourself.
Cliff Note (Plain Talk)
You don’t see clearly by yourself.Growth is a community project.
Practical Application
Christian: Intercession and community matter.
Non-Christian: Support systems accelerate healing.
Gen Z Word: You don’t have to do everything solo.
Black Community Word: We’ve always survived and thrived together.
This Week: Let someone walk with you instead of handling everything alone.
POINT 2: UNAPOLOGETICALLY TRUTHFUL (vv.23–24)
What’s Happening
Jesus asks a bold question: “Do you see anything?”The man answers honestly—even though his healing is incomplete.
“People look like trees walking.”
That’s partial sight, not denial.
Cliff Note (Plain Talk)
Partial clarity is still progress—as long as you’re honest about where you are.
Practical Application
Christian: Don’t fake spiritual clarity.
Non-Christian: Name what’s blurry instead of pretending it’s clear.
Millennial Word: Healing is allowed to be messy.
Black Community Word: We tell the truth even when it’s uncomfortable.
This Week: Identify one area where your vision is improving—but not finished.
POINT 3: UNWAVERINGLY PURPOSED (v.25)
What’s Happening
Jesus touches the man again.Second touch. Full clarity.
This wasn’t failure—it was formation.
The man is instructed to look up.Perspective changes vision.
Cliff Note (Plain Talk)
Don’t quit between touches.Clarity comes to those who stay in the process.
Practical Application
Christian: Stay open to God’s continued work.
Non-Christian: Growth requires persistence, not perfection.
Gen Z Word: Progress isn’t linear—but it’s real.
Black Community Word: Our history proves second touches matter.
This Week: Stay committed to growth even if it’s taking longer than expected.
BIG PICTURE TRUTH
Half-sight can be dangerous. It feels like clarity but still distorts reality.
Jesus heals fully because God cares about how clearly we see the world and ourselves.
FINAL WORD
This miracle isn’t just about eyesight—it’s about insight.
To see the big picture:
Walk with community
Tell the truth about where you are
Stay the course until clarity comes
Look up.Stay open.Don’t leave the process early.
That’s how blind spots become breakthroughs.
