Series: KNOW YOUR BLINDSPOTS

“TO SEE THE BIG PICTURE – PT II”

Mark 8:22–25 (The Passion Translation)Series: KNOW YOUR BLINDSPOTSYear Theme: HIGH AND LIFTED UP

BIG IDEA (For Everybody)

Clear vision doesn’t just heal you—it repositions you.Once your sight improves, your circle, direction, and altitude must change.

You can’t stay where you were and see where you’re going.

POINT 1: DEVELOP YOUR NET-WORK (v.22)

What’s Happening

The blind man is brought to Jesus by people.Healing starts because someone else cared enough to carry him.

Fishing nets only work when they’re spread and shared. In Scripture—and in life—breakthrough is rarely solo.

Cliff Note (Plain Talk)

Your next level is connected to who’s in your net.Isolation limits vision. Connection multiplies it.

Practical Application

  • Christian: God often answers prayers through people.

  • Non-Christian: Opportunity flows through relationships.

  • Gen Z Word: You don’t have to build alone.

  • Black Community Word: We’ve always advanced through collective effort.

  • This Week: Strengthen one relationship that supports your growth—and loosen one that drains it.

POINT 2: DISCERN TRUSTED RELATIONSHIPS (vv.23–24)

What’s Happening

Jesus leads the man outside the village. Not everyone gets access to the process.

The man admits partial sight:“People look like trees walking.”

That honesty only happens in safe, trusted spaces.

Cliff Note (Plain Talk)

Everyone doesn’t deserve your vulnerability.Healing requires the right environment.

Practical Application

  • Christian: Discernment protects spiritual growth.

  • Non-Christian: Trust is earned, not automatic.

  • Millennial Word: Boundaries are wisdom.

  • Black Community Word: Safe spaces help us heal without performance.

  • This Week: Ask yourself, “Who can I be honest with—and who needs limits?”

POINT 3: DRIVE VERTICAL MOBILITY (v.25)

What’s Happening

Jesus touches the man again and tells him to look up.That’s not poetic—it’s directional.

Vertical vision produces:

  • Clarity

  • Advancement

  • Maturity

This is about upward movement—spiritually, socially, economically.

Cliff Note (Plain Talk)

Clear vision should move you higher, not just make you comfortable.Second touches are about elevation.

Practical Application

  • Christian: God’s work in you should lift how you live and lead.

  • Non-Christian: Growth demands intentional upward steps.

  • Gen Z Word: Aim higher—but stay grounded.

  • Black Community Word: Vertical mobility is part of justice and legacy.

  • This Week: Take one concrete step that moves you forward—education, skill, discipline, or mindset.

BIG PICTURE TRUTH

Half-sight is dangerous. It feels healed but still distorts reality.

Even Peter was half-blind—right in belief, wrong in understanding. That’s why process matters.

Clear vision requires:

  • The right people

  • The right place

  • The right direction

FINAL WORD

To see the big picture:

  • Build your net

  • Guard your circle

  • Look up and move forward

Healing vision isn’t just about seeing better—it’s about living higher.

Stay lifted.Stay discerning.Stay moving upward.
