SPRING FORTH NOW - DAILY MEDITATION

And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.
Luke 18:35-43
Life is filled with opportunities and what we do with those opportunities determine our power of ownership over our lives. When we own our lives, we own and drive our narrative, we are compelled to seize life’s opportunities and drive them to that which should be. The what should be for your life must be conceived, defined, and executed; owned by you in order to successfully identify opportunities that lead you to your expected end. In the midst of the struggle, the protests in which we demand justice as well as equality, presents an opportunity for Black people to conceive, define, and execute the what should be; own and drive our narrative for the justice and equality we seek. We must be careful not to let others own or drive our what should be and neither must we make the mistake of seeking affirmation, acceptance, and will of others; drowning our own narrative. The opportunity has arisen so that we might seize, shape and secure our own destiny. The story of the blind man who sought assistance from others to sustain his life, begging, heard that Jesus, the Messiah, was passing by. Knowing that the opportunity, the One he had been looking for was here, he seized it by crying out to Jesus and in his crying out it made those who were close and around Jesus uncomfortable and thus they tried to take control of his opportunity, telling him to shut up, be quiet. Determined, the blind man continued to shape his opportunity by pressing his way and Jesus turns to him and ask what is it that he wants and he said to Receive my sight. Jesus responds by saying, Receive and immediately the blind man received his sight; secured his opportunity. Without question the blind man’s choice to seize his opportunity created tension and rejection by others and they tried to persuade him to shut up, marginalizing and blocking his ability to own and drive his narrative. Nevertheless, he persisted and in his persistence he Received. Catch The Wind Of God’s Spirit though the challenges of life can and will marginalize you; seize, shape and secure your opportunity that moves you toward your expected end, your flourishing awaits you!
