From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!” Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life[a] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.

Matthew 16:21-27 (NIV)

Staying power, endurance in the promise of life and life more abundantly in and through your everyday experiences, is a required tool to build out your well-lived and joy filled life. Staying indicates that one is committed and rooted in what should be even in the face of what is and that which directly opposes your promise. There will be rains, floods, and winds on the journey to your promise and the challenge to each of us is to stand, stay within the path that leads to our life and life more abundantly. Staying power may appear to be frustrating and even appear as if we are spinning our wheels, however, in order to exercise our God-given power of Transformational Leadership we must accept that it is a process and do forward maintenance. Transforming the things of your space will not just happen but takes work and endurance at that work, forward maintenance that advances the what should be for our lives. Stay in the driver seat by making sure you are staying in your lane, stay in the way; right relationship with God in order to be sensitive to His move and opportunities, and stay focused on the goal, the promise, the outcome of life and life more abudnnalty. Seize the day by exercising your staying power, transforming the things of your space that lead you to Occupy Your Promise.
