Series: FOCUS
“IT’S GONNA TAKE ALL OF YOU TO BECOME YOU”
Romans 8:28–31 (KJV)Theme: HIGH AND LIFTED UP
BIG IDEA (For Everybody)
You don’t become who you’re meant to be by accident.Every experience—good, bad, painful, joyful—is being woven together on purpose.
Focus isn’t about doing more.Focus is about bringing your whole life into alignment with what God is forming.
POINT 1: FOCUS ON SYNERGIZING YOUR LIFE (v.28)
What’s Happening
“All things” doesn’t mean all things are good.It means all things are working together.
Synergei = coordinated movement toward a greater outcome.
Nothing is wasted:
Pain
Failure
Delay
Joy
Growth
Cliff Note (Plain Talk)
Your life makes sense when you stop isolating moments and start seeing the pattern.God weaves what you survive into who you become.
Practical Application
Christian: Trust God’s process, not just God’s promises.
Non-Christian: Growth often comes from how experiences combine, not from any one moment.
Gen Z/Millennial Word: You’re not behind—you’re in formation.
Black Community Word: Our history proves pain can produce power when it’s held together with purpose.
This Week: Identify one hard experience and ask, “What did this develop in me?”
POINT 2: FOCUS ON LIVING AT YOUR MAXIMUM POTENTIAL (vv.29–30)
What’s Happening
God’s purpose isn’t just heaven later—it’s formation now.
Foreknown
Predestined
Called
Justified
Glorified
This is a process, not a personality trait.
Being “conformed” means shaped over time—not copied overnight.
Cliff Note (Plain Talk)
Practical Application
Christian: Spiritual growth is transformation, not performance.
Non-Christian: Potential is developed, not discovered fully formed.
Families / Professionals: Growth takes patience with yourself and others.
Black Community Word: Our calling has always been dynamic—meant to heal, liberate, and reflect life to the world.
This Week: Choose one habit that aligns with who you’re becoming—not who you used to be.
POINT 3: FOCUS ON WHAT IS FOR YOU, NOT WHAT IS AGAINST YOU (v.31)
What’s Happening
Paul asks the ultimate perspective question:“If God is for us, who can be against us?”
This isn’t denial of opposition—it’s clarity about who has final authority.
Confidence replaces fear when focus shifts.
Cliff Note (Plain Talk)
Not everything opposing you is stopping you. Some resistance is proof you’re moving forward.
Practical Application
Christian: Stop magnifying enemies and start trusting God’s positioning.
Non-Christian: Confidence grows when you stop letting outside pressure define your worth.
Gen Z Word: You don’t need everyone’s approval to be effective.
Black Community Word: We’ve thrived in spite of opposition because purpose was always greater than resistance.
This Week: Redirect your energy from what drains you to what strengthens you.
FOCUS, DEFINED
Focus isn’t busyness.Focus is discernment—choosing the center and saying no to distractions.
Focus is about discernment, not distractions.
That’s not just a quote—it’s a way of life.
FINAL WORD
It’s gonna take:
Your pain and your progress
Your questions and your convictions
Your past and your purpose
All of you—to become you.
Nothing is wasted.Nothing is random.Nothing can stop what God is shaping.
Stay focused.Stay faithful.Stay becoming.
