Sermon Title: FINDING FAVOR – Part I
Scripture: Proverbs 3:4-6 (KJV)
Overall Theme: Hidden Manna
Key Passage Summary (Proverbs 3:4-6)
4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
These verses speak to the way we navigate life: with faith, humility, and clarity. The promise is favor—both divine and human—as we walk with trust and obedience.
Point 1: Build Fruitful Relationships (v.4)
"So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man."
Big Idea:
We are not meant to live life alone. Favor and understanding come when we nurture healthy relationships—with God and with people.
Practical Application:
For Young People: Think about your friends and family. Are you honest? Do you treat others with kindness and respect? Favor grows when you do.
For Adults: Prioritize forgiveness, communication, and accountability in your relationships. Fruitful relationships require effort, but they reflect God’s love to others.
For Everyone: Start by building a strong relationship with God. That’s the foundation for every other relationship to thrive.
Point 2: Be Open to Alternative Perspectives (v.5)
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."
Big Idea:
Your way isn't the only way. Sometimes, God’s plan looks different than what we imagined, but it leads to something better.
Practical Application:
For Young People: It's okay not to have all the answers. Be willing to ask for help—from God, parents, mentors, teachers.
For Adults: Release control. Trust God beyond your logic, experience, or plans. He may be redirecting you to something greater.
For Everyone: Humility is key. Being open to God's view—especially when it conflicts with yours—is the first step to true wisdom.
Point 3: Be Clear About Your Direction (v.6)
"In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Big Idea:
Life doesn’t have to feel aimless. When we include God in our decisions and actions, He gives our life purpose, direction, and clarity.
Practical Application:
For Young People: Before making big choices—school, friends, hobbies—ask: “What would God want?” Invite Him into your plans.
For Adults: Make space for prayer and reflection. Acknowledge God daily—in decisions big and small—and watch how He aligns your path.
For Everyone: A straight path doesn’t mean an easy life. It means a meaningful one. Clarity comes when we walk with God, not ahead of Him.
Final Reflection
The favor of God is not random—it’s the result of a heart posture that builds relationships, stays humble, and seeks direction. Whether you’re just starting your faith journey or have walked with God for years, the promise is the same: God will guide you all along the way.
