And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people. And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
Exodus 33:11-14
What if success without God’s presence isn’t success at all? Exodus 33:11–14 (KJV) shows Moses refusing to move unless his Focus stayed locked on the One who walked with him face to face. To be High And Lifted Up is not to run ahead—it’s to stay close enough to hear God clearly. For Black people and our communities, this is powerful wisdom: we don’t advance just to prove something; we move with purpose and presence. Focus means choosing God’s way over shortcuts, even when pressure says hurry. When God goes with you, your hands work with peace instead of panic. Let this word remind every generation that true rest and real progress come from staying aligned with God’s presence.
