January 24
You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.’”
II Chronicles 20:17 (NIV)
There are moments when the pressure says fight harder, but God says stand still. Second Chronicles 20:17 (NIV) calls our Focus away from panic and toward trust, reminding us that some battles are won by posture, not force. To be High And Lifted Up is to fix your eyes on God’s promise while refusing to be shaken by fear. For Black people and our communities, this is holy reassurance: we don’t have to exhaust ourselves proving strength when God is already fighting for us. When Focus shifts from fear to faith, your hands are freed from frantic striving and ready for purposeful work. This word echoes across generations, teaching us that courage sometimes looks like stillness. Stand firm, stay lifted, and watch God move.
