Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 5:13-16
Jesus doesn’t say you might be the light—He says you are. The Hidden Manna here is that Shining isn’t something you work up; it’s something you wake up to. When you live out your faith with integrity, compassion, and courage, your light naturally pushes back darkness without making noise. Shine means showing up fully as who God created you to be, not shrinking to fit uncomfortable spaces. Salt doesn’t beg for flavor—it just is, and light doesn’t argue with darkness—it simply shows up. Today, don’t hide what God placed in you. Let your life glow through your choices, your love, and your truth, so others can see God clearly because you decided to shine.
