The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Psalm 23
The Lord, as our Shepherd, reminds us that every assignment He gives is undergirded by His provision, protection, and presence. When we walk through our calling, He leads us beside still waters and restores our soul, so that we do not rely on our own strength but on His Hidden Manna—sustenance that comes from unseen places. Even when the path of our assignment takes us through valleys of uncertainty, His rod and staff guide and comfort us, ensuring that we remain aligned with His purpose. The table He prepares before us is not just for our refreshment but a testimony to His faithfulness, even in the presence of challenges and opposition. In the oil of anointing, we are equipped For Our Assignment, overflowing with His Spirit to accomplish the work before us. As we seek to be faithful, goodness and mercy follow us, strengthening our walk and assuring us that we will dwell in His presence, where every assignment finds its fulfillment. Hidden Manna reminds us that what we need for today’s step is already provided, for the Shepherd never leaves His sheep lacking.
