In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. So often, in our searching for meaning, direction, and hope, we look everywhere but to the true source—Jesus Christ, the Living Word. John reminds us that life and light are not found in the fleeting things of this world, but in Him who has been present from the very start. Every time we chase after status, possessions, or affirmation from others, we are Looking In All The Wrong Places, when the Hidden Manna of life—God’s sustaining truth and nourishment—is quietly offered to us in His Word. The light shines in the darkness, even when we feel lost or overwhelmed, calling us to feast daily on the hidden riches of His presence. Today, stop and be still; let the Word be your light and your bread, guiding you back to the source you may have unknowingly overlooked. In Christ alone, the darkness is dispelled, and true life is revealed.
