SPRING FORTH NOW 2023

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Psalm 139:13-16 (NIV)

Sometimes the easiest way to deal with life’s challenges is to run away, run away from them thinking that you are ill-equipped to handle them and/or they are impossible to overcome. I imagine David wrote this Psalm when at a crossroads to run away; not sure if it was when he was running away from Saul or his own son, whether it was during the time of unrealized promises of God and/or his internal struggles with his own inadequacies. Nevertheless, David discovers that the God who is God; His Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer already knew he would be where he was and unbeknownst to him had already adequately equipped him to handle his challenges. Therefore, David exclaims, he reminds God that he had Chosen him and although he faces challenges, in your creation of me, you well-equipped me to engage whatever may exist and to do so to overcome. David's confidence and assurance are also true to each and every one of us today, God has Chosen us for our lives, and though we may not see at the moment the what, when, and how, God knew and knows. It is God who has made us and not we ourselves, we have been created and formed for our journey, therefore, whatever may exist we have already been built for it and thus have the ability within to overcome and walk in our Most Favored Status. Our challenge, my challenge is to believe God has fearfully and wonderfully made us, built us for our life, well-equipping us to empower ourselves from within to do exceedingly, abundantly, more than we can ever ask or think in whatever may exist in and to our lives.
