SPRING FORTH NOW 2023

"So, what a blessing when God steps in and corrects you! Mind you, don't despise the discipline of Almighty God! True, he wounds, but he also dresses the wound; the same hand that hurts you, heals you.

Job 5:17-18 (MSG)

Many of us grew up in homes in which our mothers, grandmothers, and/or family/community surrogate mothers discipline us, no matter where we were, it was seen as an obligation to be a part of the community and investment in one another. Therefore, it was easy for us to bend to the cultural norm saying of yes ma’am to women as a sign of respect and buy-in. In particular, we would receive discipline; correction, guidance, and direction that set a cultural standard in which we all, the village, have been Mothered. To be Mothered; loved, cared for in such a way in which there is an investment in not only us but also in the future of the community. This sense of being Mothered is a direct reflection of God’s love for us, it is God who has Mothered and is mothering us; caring for us by constantly dressing our wounds and healing us, challenging us to our greatest, our Most Favored Status.
