“TRANSCEND” – PT II

Philippians 2:5–11 (TPT)Year Theme: HIGH AND LIFTED UP

BIG IDEA (For Everyone)

To transcend, you don’t drift—you seek.

You don’t accidentally grow into purpose. You intentionally pursue:

• Knowing God• Surrendering limits• Aligning your life

Jesus didn’t just show us what to believe—He showed us what to pursue.

1. SEEK TO KNOW GOD (INTIMACY) (v.5)

What’s Happening

“Let this mindset be in you…”

Jesus’ mindset came from His relationship with God.His actions flowed from intimacy, not obligation.

To seek means to actively pursue—not casually glance.

Cliff Note (Plain Talk)

You can’t become what you don’t pursue.

Practical Application

  • Christian: Prioritize relationship with God, not just religious routine.

  • Non-Christian: Growth starts when you pursue meaning, not just activity.

  • Gen Z / Millennials: Be intentional about what shapes your mindset.

  • Black Community Word: Our spiritual depth has always been a source of strength, identity, and direction.

  • This Week: Set intentional time daily to reflect, pray, or center yourself.

2. SEEK TO SURRENDER YOUR LIMITS (TRUST) (vv.6–8)

What’s Happening

Jesus had power—but chose humility. He released status and embraced purpose.

Surrender is not loss—it’s alignment.

We often hold onto:

  • control

  • fear

  • ego

  • past definitions

But transcendence requires letting those go.

Cliff Note (Plain Talk)

What you hold onto too tightly can hold you back.

Practical Application

  • Christian: Trust God’s process even when it’s uncomfortable.

  • Non-Christian: Let go of patterns that limit your growth.

  • Millennial Word: You don’t heal by controlling everything.

  • Families / Professionals: Growth requires flexibility and humility.

  • Black Community Word: We’ve had to rise by releasing imposed limitations and stepping into purpose.

  • This Week: Identify one mindset or fear you need to release—and act on it.

3. SEEK TO ALIGN WITH GOD (OBEDIENCE) (vv.9–11)

What’s Happening

Because Jesus aligned with God’s will, He was elevated.

Alignment leads to:

  • clarity

  • impact

  • authority

Obedience isn’t restriction—it’s direction.

Cliff Note (Plain Talk)

When your life lines up with purpose, elevation follows.

Practical Application

  • Christian: Let your daily actions reflect your faith.

  • Non-Christian: Living with purpose creates direction and fulfillment.

  • Gen Z Word: Don’t just react—move intentionally.

  • Families / Professionals: Purpose-driven choices build long-term success.

  • Black Community Word: Alignment with purpose builds legacy and lifts communities.

  • This Week: Take one step that reflects your long-term purpose, not just your current mood.

BIG PICTURE TRUTH

Transcendence is not automatic—it’s intentional.

You don’t just rise—you pursue the things that lift you:

• Intimacy shapes your mindset• Surrender shapes your growth• Alignment shapes your future

FINAL WORD

To transcend is to:

• Seek God deeply• Release what limits you• Live aligned with purpose

You’re not waiting to go higher—you’re choosing to pursue what lifts you.

Stay seeking.Stay growing.Stay aligned.

That’s how you livehigh and lifted up.
