SPRING FORTH NOW
For six years you are to sow your fields and harvest the crops, but during the seventh year let the land lie unplowed and unused. Then the poor among your people may get food from it, and the wild animals may eat what is left. Do the same with your vineyard and your olive grove. Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and so that the slave born in your household and the foreigner living among you may be refreshed. Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.
Exodus 23:10-13 (NIV)
The challenge of our balancing work and rest is not only personal, but also communal for they go hand-in-hand with one another in order to bring about endless energy and boundless strengthen. God created humankind to be in communion, in relationship with one another as well as nature, connecting all of his creation to one another, revealing Him and His purpose and plan. It is God’s intent that we, humankind and nature be in service to one another fulfilling His original intent in creating all things. I have found when I become so engulfed in me, myself, and I, I tend not to be sensitive to those around me nor all of God’s creation, seeking only to resolve my situation or accomplish my goal. Rest has been given and ordained to counteract our selfishness and our sense of being just about me, myself, and I and as we rest, we have the opportunity to reflect and be more sensitive to our entire space, our community. It is in the reflection and sensitivity of our community, our spaces, in which we can rediscover our authenticity, God’s purpose and plan for our lives as well as the meaning of the connections, relationships within our spaces that serves the fulfillment of His promises, His Word for our lives. When we choose to rest, rely and trust God as we intersect with our work toward the fulfillment of God’s promises for our lives, we not only sustain our ability to Soar, but also provide support for all things in our spaces to transform for the good as we are being transformed. God commanded us to work our land, our promise ,for six (6) years, to work for 6 days and in the seventh year, seventh day, rest let God produce in and through our spaces that which is necessary for us and everything in our place to Soar, Reimagining Outcomes that benefits not only you the person, but also your space, your community. Today, work your assignment while balancing rest, rely on God and let Him impress upon your mind, Reimagine Outcomes that yields benefit not just for you but for your entire space, community!
