SPRING FORTH NOW - DAILY MEDITATION
Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn’t, and doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn’t been so weak, we wouldn’t have known what to do anyway. We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.
Romans 5:6-8 (MSG)
The present times of our lives appears to be daunting, COVID-19 and the anti-Blackness protests in many forms, challenging us all to ask the questions, what is next and how much more can we bear. Life is funny, over and over we find ourselves at intersections challenged with which way to go or to go at all, in particular when we feel as though we are sick and tired of being sick and tried. The sense that we are inadequate to meet life’s challenge with any certainty is real and common to us all and if left unanswered can cause us to become stalled at life’s intersections. However, it is when we have come to the end of our abilities as we know and understand them to meet life’s challenges that we seek a greater power to redeem us, enabling us to see and move, flowing in a pathway forward that would cause us to flourish. Often growing up in church, the saints would say, “Jesus may not come when you want Him but He is always on time!" My lived-experiences, testimonies ring true of the saints words, when I have found myself at life’s intersections of challenges beyond my abilities, I released myself and allowed the Spirit of God to prevail and as a result was positioned to see and act in that which led to my flourishing. I would suggest to you when you come to the limitations of your abilities, as you presently know them, stalled at life’s intersection, that it is the place where release of yourself to the Spirit of God, who knew and knows, is essential. God knew we would face life’s challenges and would be unsure of what to do or even believe that it can be done, so at those points of separation He gave His Son as a sacrifice so in those moments we would have access to redemption. Jesus willingly sacrificed His life, gave up His Spirit for God’s Spirit to control and in doing so, was empowered to move and flowed pass the challenge of Calvary into a new life, although the pathway went through death, hell and the grave, He arrived at destination of all power. Jesus sacrificed Himself for you and me so when we reach life’s intersection, challenges beyond what we can handle or even what we believe we have the willpower to do, if we are willing to give up ourselves and Receive God's Spirit, we will see and act in that which gives us all power to flourish. The choice is yours, Catch The Wind of God’s Spirit, no matter what the circumstances, including but not limited to COVID-19 and anti-Blackness, and go forward to flourishing in your promised life and life more abundantly!
