SPRING FORTH NOW - DAILY MEDITATION

And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him. And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine. And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him. And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance. And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field. Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hands. And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.

I Samuel 17:39-50

The approach you take to the challenges of your life is a major factor in the determination of your outcome. Approaching the very things that are averse and create complexities toward your promise to flourish demands both a strategic and methodical plan. Your strategy and method to overcoming whatever is before you involves constructive reflection of your circumstances and from that vantage point you are empowered to develop a plan of execution that moves you beyond the simple change of your circumstances to sustainable transformation. If you approach your circumstances as a victim you will see any and all opportunities and potentials through the lens of victimhood. However, if you approach your circumstances from a position of strength as an overcomer, you develop strategies and methods different. If you just want change you will see possibilities and opportunities of change, however, if you want transformation you see strategies and methods that are sustainable over time, transforming your circumstances for your flourishing. Sustainable transformation places the power within, challenging you to reframe your problem and with it a reassessment of your value; what it is you bring to the table to reimagine an outcome beyond what is to a place of sustainable transformation. Although, David’s problem appeared on the surface as taking on a giant in a conflict between the Philistines and the children of Israel, David reframed the problem as an ungodly people defying the power of the true and living God. In so doing, he was able to see himself and his people as overcomers, sifting through options that would force him to rely on arbitrary resources that were not common or natural to him. Thus, David did not need to take on armor and weaponry that he was not accustom, weighing him down, instead he lied on his own lived experiences as a part of the intent of God and His plan, David caught the wind of God’s Spirit and trusted his abilities and God’s faithfulness and as a result slayed the giant, in his lived experience and capacity as a shepherd boy, a sling and pebble, winning the victory and establishing that giants do fall. Receive yourself in your situations as an overcomer by reframing your problem, reassessing your value, and reimagining your outcome beyond what is and Catch The Wind of God’s Spirit, flowing in that which sustains you to flourish in and through all thing
