DAILY MEDITATION

June 24, 2019

But if God himself has taken up residence in your life, you can hardly be thinking more of yourself than of him. Anyone, of course, who has not welcomed this invisible but clearly present God, the Spirit of Christ, won’t know what we’re talking about.  But for you who welcome him, in whom he dwells—even though you still experience all the limitations of sin—you yourself experience life on God’s terms.  It stands to reason, doesn’t it, that if the alive-and-present God who raised Jesus from the dead moves into your life, he’ll do the same thing in you that he did in Jesus, bringing you alive to himself? When God lives and breathes in you (and he does, as surely as he did in Jesus), you are delivered from that dead life. With his Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive as Christ’s!  So don’t you see that we don’t owe this old do-it-yourself life one red cent. There’s nothing in it for us, nothing at all.  The best thing to do is give it a decent burial and get on with your new life.  God’s Spirit beckons. There are things to do and places to go!

Romans 8:9-14

When you Live By The Spirit there is a decrease of you; your thoughts, ideas, logic and an increase, giving way to and for the purpose and plan of God for your life.  By no means does this suggest that you no longer become a thinking person but instead you voluntarily yield to the leading and guiding of the Spirit that enlightens you to the pathway of life that leads to your well-lived and joy filled life.  To Live By The Spirit challenges you to not just the omnipresence of God, God everywhere at all times, but seeks the manifest presence of God, God showing up in your space and providing you the direction that leads to your life and life more abundantly.  God’s manifest presence in our lives reveals God’s power that makes us enabled, empowered to do what appears to be impossible or overcome insurmountable tasks that leads to your overcoming whatever is before you so that you LIVE in that which is promised.  Live By The Spirit and allow the confines of your abilities, thoughts, and actions, give way to the presence, power and promise of God, producing the exceedingly, abundantly, more than you can ever ask or think by the power of God working in and through you!
